"A process of rapid economic integration driven by the liberalisation of trade, investment and capital flows and by rapid technological change."
- definition by OXFAM

"It affects the clothes we wear, the music we listen too, the food we eat, the jobs we do and the environment we live in."

"Before you finish eating your breakfast this morning, you've depended on half the world.... We aren't going to have peace on earth until we recognise this basic fact." - Martin Luther King

"Let ours be a time remembered for the awakening of a new reverence for life, the firm resolve to achieve sustainability, the quickening of the struggle for justice and peace, and the joyful celebration of life." - From the Earth Charter

"The only path that promises success is to embrace globalisation and become an integral part of the engine of global growth. It may not be easy, but it is the only way to support high-quality, long-term growth and unleash the innovative talents and energies of nations’ entrepreneurs on an international scale. Globalisation is an enormously powerful driver of growth. It is a challenge to be met, not a threat to be avoided - and least of all a weapon to be honed." - E@syVG's Vichar: World Connected

Globalisation of Politics

Animal rights, human rights, homosexual rights, children’s right – one of the many reason and causes of the globalization of politics. But amidst all these campaigns going on worldwide today, there is a shadow of globalization, The Globalization of Political Violence. The events of the 11th of September 2001 revealed most dramatically that globalization has a shadow. While large sections of the world’s population enjoy the perceived benefits of globalization, others seek to utilize globalization for their own politically violent purposes. If 9/11 demonstrated anything, it is that globalization can as readily facilitate violence and insecurity as it can produce stability, prosperity and political order. Since the end of the cold war and the dismantling of the Berlin wall, we have witnessed the emergence of something that could be called political globalization. The cold war can be regarded as the last great global clash between the nation states of the USSR and the USA. The end of this cold war marked the end of an era when the ultimate threat of war between states determined international relations. We have entered new territory - and are past the old paradigm of war between nations. September 11, 2001 demonstrated only too graphically that we live in an interdependent world, where a superpower like the US cannot maintain security merely through the protection of its borders, and where nation states like Lebanon can no longer control what happens within their borders.
